Spider Cape

In 2019, the Royal Ontario Museum presented a feature exhibition: Spiders: Fear and Fascination. One of the prized artifacts on display was the Gold Cape—the world’s largest and most elaborate piece of cloth made entirely of spider silk.

As Communications Manager, Amanda facilitated a once-in-a-lifetime PR experience whereby one of Canada’s supermodels was contracted to wear the cape for a media photo opportunity. Getting a team of Museum conservators to agree to something like this is a success on its own. The experience resulted in national media coverage, with the compelling photos and brilliant story shared widely across social media channels.
